Equipment

  • Skillet To cook the shrimp and prepare the Alfredo sauce
  • Baking Sheet To bake the garlic bread
  • Mixing Bowl To combine garlic butter ingredients
  • Whisk To whisk the Alfredo sauce

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoon butter high-quality, like Challenge Butter
  • 1 loaf french bread sliced lengthwise
  • 1 stick salted butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 to 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • black pepper to taste

Step-by-Step Instructions

Preparing the Cajun Shrimp

  • To begin, take 1.5 pounds (approx. 700 grams) of large shrimp, peeled and deveined. Season them thoroughly with 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning, ½ teaspoon of garlic powder, and ½ teaspoon of paprika. Mix everything until the shrimp are evenly coated with these spices. The blend of seasonings will infuse the shrimp with that characteristic Cajun kick, bringing warmth and depth to the final dish.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 2 tablespoons of high-quality butter (like Challenge Butter) to the pan. Once melted, add the shrimp in an even layer. Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook—shrimp cook quickly and will become rubbery if left on the heat for too long. Once done, remove them from the skillet and set them aside.

Crafting the Perfect Garlic Bread

  • Next, it's time to create that delicious garlic butter spread. In a small bowl, combine 1 stick (113 grams) of salted butter, softened at room temperature, with 1 teaspoon of dried parsley, ½ teaspoon of garlic salt, and 1 teaspoon of minced garlic. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  • Take 1 loaf of French bread and slice it lengthwise. Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture across both halves of the bread, making sure to cover the entire surface so every bite bursts with flavor. Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake at 425°F (220°C) for about 10 minutes, or until the bread becomes golden brown and toasty. The edges should be crisp, while the inside remains slightly soft.

Creating the Creamy Alfredo Sauce

  • In the same skillet used for the shrimp (to capture all those flavorful bits), add 1 stick (113 grams) of unsalted butter over medium heat. Pour in 2 cups (473 ml) of heavy whipping cream and let the mixture warm until it starts to bubble gently. Add a pinch of garlic and herb seasoning to enhance the flavor profile.
  • Reduce the heat to low, and whisk in 1 cup (100 grams) of grated Parmesan cheese. Continue whisking until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy. Season the sauce with freshly ground black pepper to taste. The Alfredo should be smooth and have a luscious consistency without any lumps.

Assembling the Garlic Bread

  • Take the toasted garlic bread halves out of the oven. Spread a generous layer of the Alfredo sauce over each half. Next, evenly distribute the cooked Cajun shrimp on top of the Alfredo layer. Spoon a bit more Alfredo sauce over the shrimp to ensure maximum creaminess.
  • Sprinkle a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese (about ½ to 1 cup, or 50-100 grams) on top, followed by a light sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese. For extra flavor and color, drizzle a bit more Alfredo sauce across the top and finish with a sprinkle of dried parsley.
  • Place the garlic bread back into the oven, this time under the broiler setting. Broil for about 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden in spots. Be sure to watch it closely to avoid burning.

Enjoying the Final Dish

  • Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before cutting it into individual servings. Serve it alongside any leftover Alfredo sauce for dipping. Trust me, that extra Alfredo elevates the experience and makes every bite even more decadent!

Notes

For best results, use fresh shrimp instead of frozen, as it provides better texture and flavor. Watch closely while broiling the bread to avoid burning.
